Enjoy England wants visitors to help build up the definitive guide to the best and most interesting pubs and inns in the country, seeking out the most haunted, the best food, the historic and truly inspired, the best place to stop after a day cycling or a walk with the dog – so go ahead and tell us about them all!

We at Enjoy England have created this website to recognise and celebrate one of the country's most important National Treasures, the English pub. This year, the great English pub won the Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Award at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, further cementing the important role Inns and Pubs play in this country.
Pubs and Inns provide more than alcohol and food. They are an integral part of the English way of life, the cornerstone of many local communities and a great way to discover more about the local way of life, whether it be the amazing local produce on offer on the menu, or the great walks in the area.
A true sense of the past lives on in the creaking timber frames, roaring fires and traditional ales, as we charge our glasses and revel in England's fine history. With struggling landlords and more pub closures than ever, Inn England's mission is to celebrate the opportunity traditional and refurbished pubs and inns provide for domestic and international visitors.
We have partnered with The Publican to build a database of fine pubs and inns around the country.
Our goal is for 'Inn England' to become the ideal website for researching and finding pubs and inns across the country to compliment a day-trip, short break or even an afternoon walk!
This website isn't just about the pub - pubs and inns provide a starting point for great activities in the area such as walks, nearby attractions, amazing view points, unique destinations. Search for a pub or inn and build a day trip or holiday around it!
Rate the pubs on this site, leave comments, and search for your favourite places. If you've recently discovered a gem of your own, please add it to the website and leave a comment letting us know what makes the pub or inn special and what there is to see and do in the area. We want visitors to help us build up the definitive guide to the best and most interesting pubs in the country, seeking out the most haunted, the best food, the historic and truly inspired, the best place to stop after a day cycling or a walk with the dog - tell us about them all!
'Pubs and inns provide more than food and drink' said Amanda Smyth, Head of Marketing, VisitEngland.
'Pubs are a key part of England's brand, our history and way of life. They are often the cornerstone of a local community and a great way to discover more about a destination, be it the produce on the menu, the history of the people and surroundings, or the great walks and activities in the area'.
Caroline Nodder, Editor of The Publican, said the publication was extremely proud to be part of this campaign which couldn’t come at a better time for the pub industry.
'Inn England will remind people of the unique place that the English pub holds in our history and our culture. Pubs are the beating hearts of our country and there has never been a better time to showcase how amazing and diverse our pubs really are and to encourage more people to visit them and be proud of them,' said Caroline.
Masters Traditional Games is delighted to support "Enjoy England" and "The Publican" magazine for the "Inn England" promotion in 2009.
From inception in 1999, Masters Traditional Games has specialised in traditional British pub games and we continue to be the leading supplier of genuine tavern games. We go to great lengths to ensure that the equipment for many old and obscure pub games remains available and we are the only national and international supplier for several such games including Aunt Sally, Bat & Trap, Northamptonshire Skittles and Ringing the Bull. We also have a great selection of more modern pub sports such as Pool, Table Football and Giant Connect 4. http://www.mastersgames.com

'You can learn a lot in an English pub. In fact, I’d go as far as to suggest that if you really, really want to get to know England on an intimate, local basis you’re better off spending time in an Englishman’s local than traipsing around any number of his castles, stately homes and ancient monuments'.
