What makes this Pub/Inn special/unique?
This charming pub, high on Broadhalfpenny Down, is the birthplace of cricket for it was here that the famously straightforward laws of the original beautiful game were written up by the members of the Hambledon club in 1760. Consequently the pub should feature on the itinerary of any Anglophile, although you should be careful where you stand. The Hambledon and Clanfield parish boundary runs through the bar and since each has slightly different licencing hours you need to be on the right side for last orders.
