Excellent pub food at Culver Haven Inn. This is a great spot to sit and look out at the views over the English Channel, surrounded by locals and tourists alike who all enjoy this little hidden gem.

What is there to see and do nearby? Clouds about? Splendid. Nothing’s as beautiful as dappled light on the Channel, and the three-mile loop gives you plenty of it on the way back to excellent pub food at the perfectly sited Culver Haven Inn. Expect spectacular views, precipitous cliffs, rolling emerald-green downs and an awful lot of rabbits. The route is at nationaltrust.org.uk/walks — it’s called Bembridge Down.
